Satellite BroadcastingTo create an environment that allows easy reception, we’re supplementing C-band satellite broadcasting with regionally directed Ku-band satellite broadcasting which can be received our programs with a small dish antenna and with facilities for retransmission to terrestrial and cable broadcasters in countries around the world.

InternetWe’re developing Internet-based distribution in line with the spread of broadband, and we’re deploying technologies to enable transmission to next-generation mobile telephones.

Informing the World about Japan and Asia.
Comprehensive News
We’ll be broadcasting the latest news on the hour around the clock. The news slot will be 28 minutes long except during late-night hours in Japan, when it will be 10 minutes long. As well as delivering original information on Japan, we aim to establish international recognition for NHK as a source of Asian news by stationing English speaking NHK World TV reporters at NHK bureaus around Asia and taking other steps to strengthen our Asian news-gathering network. We’ll be in an unparalleled position to communicate the vibrancy of the region.
Content Creation to Increase Awareness of Japan
To achieve wider knowledge of Japan, we’ll be offering a diverse program lineup including Japanese politics, business, and traditional culture and the latest information on Japanese pop-culture phenomena such as fashion and anime.
Consistent Programming for All Regions
With programming repeated in four-hour cycles each day, we’ll ensure that viewers can enjoy programs at convenient times regardless of time zones and catch any content they might have missed during an earlier cycle.
Original Content Creation
As well as offering programs from NHK, we’ll be making original programs in cooperation with commercial broadcasters and production companies.
