The Nobel Prize in Physics 2014 was awarded jointly to Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura for the invention of blue light-emitting diodes (LED). The Royal Swedish Academy commented, "Incandescent light lit the 20th century; the 21st century will be lit by LED lamps."
Energy-saving and long-lasting LEDs play an important role to solutions to global warming. And there is more. LEDs keep evolving in many ways to light up our future, such as LEDs that make skin look more beautiful and lights that send various information.
The program introduces cutting-edge LED technologies and explores how “Nobel Prize” has been making contributions to mankind’s happiness.
