London. February 2, 2016.
An announcement of a unique collaboration involving “Arita-yaki” porcelain is made at a Japanese restaurant. With the local press in attendance, the world-renowned chef Nobu and two potters showcased their new collection.

In the 17th century, the first porcelain art pieces produced in Saga prefecture were exported to Europe captivating the aristocracy. Those pieces would be named “Arita-yaki” after this region. To mark its 400th anniversary, various projects have been undertaken to put “Arita-yaki” on the world market again, such as collaborating with designers from home and abroad, and nurturing young professionals with global mindsets.

A group of potters also gathered to create a new tableware collection that gives broader appeal to foreign buyers. Joining them is chef Nobu, known for his innovative style of Japanese cuisine. Their goal is to re-interpret traditional rules.

The program follows their creative undertaking to redefine the boundaries of Japanese cuisine and porcelain arts.
