Information

When the UN announced its newest development goals in September 2015 many focused on the healthcare goal: Universal Health Coverage, or UHC. This is defined as "access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all." This program looks at what is needed to provide UHC in developing nations. A conference on “Universal Health Coverage in the New Development Era: Toward Building Resilient and Sustainable Health Systems” was attended by government officials and experts in international healthcare.

Speeches were given by Margaret Chan, Director-General of WHO, and Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank Group. The keynote was given by Bill Gates.
