Information
Brazil is sustained by what is thought of as a grand breadbasket, spreading throughout the inland savanna called the Cerrado. The area had long been barren and abandoned. However, as a result of continuous efforts and cooperation with Japan for a quarter-century, the Cerrado has gradually been transformed into rich greenery. This agricultural revolution has helped in boosting Brazil as the world's leading crop exporter. Farmers from places such as Mozambique, a country with untouched expanses of land, aspire to emulate its agricultural development. With comments from farmers and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) staff members, the program documents the development of the Cerrado and explores the role of Japanese assistance.
