The Beautiful Airport

Aired: September 19, 2019 (UTC)

Information

Kansai International Airport, the gateway to the Kansai Region used by around 30 million people every year, is marking the 25th anniversary of its foundation.
In June 2019, it was in the world’s spotlight when it welcomed the leaders of many countries to the G20 Summit. Why does the airport receive such a high global evaluation?
The program closely follows members of the airport staff as they work, and catch a glimpse of the considerate backstage efforts which are made to enhance Japan’s unique hospitality. It also introduces other fascinating features of the airport that employ state-of-the-art technology, such as the AI-installed robot vacuum cleaners and fuel cell forklifts using next-generation energy.

The airport never closes. Maintaining the customer-friendly facilities which are only available at an airport open for 24 hours, the night-shift staff carrying out their responsibilities when most people are asleep… The program documents in chronological order a whole day filled with the hospitality that only Kansai International Airport can offer.
